Spatial Thinking Revisited

At the beginning of the semester we discussed and completed activities that asked you to use spatial thinking skills. How have you used your spatial thinking skills since our initial activities. Has your awareness of spatial thinking skills changed the way you do things in your everyday life? How can you use spatial thinking skills to enhance your education at NU High?

Yes I have. I'm currently out for tennis and spatial thinking helps me win. I have to use spatial thinking every time I hit the ball. I have also played a lot of basketball. In order to be successful at basketball you must use spatial thinking. It's better to spread people on the court. Spatial thinking is used every day of my life. Now that I know what it is and I'm aware when I do it I can capitalize on it. At NU high it helps me get to class easier. I think about how big the building is and how long I have to get there. I also have to think about what door I'm going to use. Also the sports I play are for NU High.

I believe that I use spacial thinking when I am playing tennis becuase it helps me know where to go when my opponent hits the ball to me. I also use spatial thinking skills when I am just walking around school or at home.

Yes I believe that my spatial thinking skills have changed the way I play sports very significantly. In soccer I now know how to get wide and spread the field and now I consciously do it instead of just unconsciously moving to spread the field out. I do this to spread the other teams defense out. I also use spatial thinking when I am driving somewhere in my car and deciding which route to take. I also use spatial thinking when cleaning my room because i have to decide where to put things in my room.

The way I use spatial thinking the most right now is for soccer. The high school soccer season requires me to think spatially to succeed in games. But since the activities earlier in the semester I have become much more aware of spatial thinking. I realize it when I am using spatial thinking and how I am using it. Spatial thinking skills can be use to enhance any thing you do in your life today. But the way most students are going to find it handy is with Sports. Most student at NU are in a sport and sports require a big deal of spatial thinking.

in think i use spatial thinking alot when i am going from class to class. this building is sort of big and you need less time to get from class to class so you have to figure out what way is the shortest or see how many people r in the hall way so then it takes you less time to get to class. you also have to think about what ways your coming into the school and class room.

I think I use spatial thinking alot when I am playing tennis. I sometimes try to break the oppnents court into 4 areas. A good strategy is to hit the ball into an area that is far away from your opponenent. This requires spatial thinking. Another way I use spatial thinking in tennis has to to do with direction. If I see that some one is moving one way, I will hit the ball theother way and it will be hard for them to change direction.

one major thing that i use spacial thinking in is soccer. in soccer everyone must stay spread out in order to move the ball down the field. you must also know where to place the ball.
