The website that I chose is Google Earth. It is a really neat website. You type in a destination that you want to see in a map, and it takes you right to it. Then, it shows what the area looks from an ariel view. It shows specific buildings in the area, and some areas are actually in really great detail. You can zoom in and out to see it in more or less detail.
the website that i chose to do is called The World. At this site you are able to pull up maps of every country in the world. you do this by clicking on the continent of the country that you want to view. then you click on the country that you want to see. these maps have country lines and major cities in the country. The maps also have rivers and topographical data. the topographical data is not the best but it will show you where mountains are. it will not show you how high they are in most cases.
The website I have chose is Map Machine. When you first open the site the home page is a large image of the earth. On the left is a bar where you can zoom in and out. At the top of the map there is four taps the one it automatically starts with is road map. You can go to satellite, physical, or more theme maps. Directly below those taps is a bar where you can type in a specific address and it will bring you to it on the map. Depending on what type of map your on it can show you a picture of a house.
The website I used is http://ngmdb.usgs.gov/Other_Resources/rdb_topo.html it is used by the National Geologic Map Database. You can find a map of just any area in the United States that you want. All you have to do is go to the larger map of the United States and click on the state in which you want a map, and then the area of that state, and so on and so forth until you have the exact size that you want.
The website that I decided to use was askcity.com. This website is similar to google maps only the site is run though askjeeves.com also known as ask.com. On this site there are many different ways you can search for a location such as by business name, longitude and latitude, street address, or just by zooming in and out and searching the map on your own. One thing that I found interesting and useful to use was being able to draw lines around a certain area and be able to see the distance of the perimeter and to pin point exact locations. You can also add a new location by putting a marker on it and naming that location. Another great feature to this site is that you can take a screen shot and save it to the site so you can always come back to a previous screen or map.

From 2/5/06 email "A couple of more sites that the students might find interesting are www.worldwind.net (a NASA site that’s pretty cool), and Microsoft’s www.virtualearth.com."
From 2/7/08 email, "One of the most inspiring geographic quotes I know is from H. Grosvenor, Editor of National Geographic, 1903 – 1954:
"A map is the greatest of all epic poems. Its lines and colors show the realization of dreams"
The website I choose was Live Search Maps which is powered by Microsoft virtual earth. It provides detailed aerial views of cities and you can also find business listings, real time traffic, driving directions and more. Birds eye view provides a 45 degree view of locations and gives you a feeling of actually being at the location. Maps live also provides 3-D topography of cities around the world, but you have to download the 3-D feature.
My website that I choose is National Atlas Map Maker. This website is very interesting. It involves taking a blank map of the United States and editing by adding data to about many different categories. The main categories opinions are basic map, agriculture, biology, boundaries, climate, environment, geology, history, map reference, people, transportation, and water. All of these have small different things that you can add on to the map. The problem is you have to keep choices to a minimum because the different things don't mesh well together. Also you have to opinion of zoom in and out on areas so you can a better look a specific area.
My website is google maps. You can choose from sattelite, political or terrain amps. You can zoom in and out to see different things. You can also get directions. It is interesting to look at your house or famous places with the satellite map. There is also a street level view in some big cities.
The website i chose to do was Atlas Dynamic Maps. You can look at different information about the united states like valcanos, Zabra mussels, Vegetation Growth in the United States, Wildlife Mortality. You can go through the maps you can click on one thing and it will highlight what you are looking at.
